There’s definitely a change in Doha’s weather this past few weeks that it’s safe to say that Fall if officially here. To prepare for this month, I’ve dusted off my knits and plaids in my wardrobe and closely watched the runway reports for some of the hot looks this season. What’s great about the fast-paced world of fashion is that high street brands like Zara, Topshop, and Mango have already created their own version of the runway trends for a fraction of the price. If you are looking to sport the latest trend this month, look no further and head down to Landmark or Villaggio and grab some of Fall’s must-have items.
Let’s start off with the color of the season: pink. The chicest way to sport this bubble gum color is by wearing a statement coat as seen on Simone Rocha and Celine’s runway shows. This Club Monaco number is structured and ladylike for only QR 1350.
The next trend is plaid. I’ve talked about this trend so many times but there’s no denying that plaid is the most covetable trend. Why not channel a rocker vibe by wearing plaid jeans with an exposed front zip? Karl Lagerfeld and Saint Laurent both rocked this trend in their latest collection and there are tons of high-street versions to choose from. I like this one from Mango because of it’s fit and the front silver zip adds the perfect dose of rock n’ roll.
Continuing with the punk trend, a military style ankle boot is a nice take on your regular ankle boots. Every major fashion blogger and fashion editor is sporting this Balenciaga cut-out boot. I don’t think normal girls like us should be splurging on such a trendy shoe but you can still fool people with this almost identical version from Urban Outfitters for only QR250.
Sweaters are huge this season from chunky knits, bold graphics to varsity sweaters. Stella Mccartney’s pinstripe sweater has been featured in fashion magazines and worn by fashionista’s during fashion week. This Mango version does the trick for half the price. Nail the Stella McCartney runway look by wearing a white turtleneck underneath and a baseball cap and you’ll look like a classy football referee!
Let’s move on to ladylike things. Red is the hot color in terms of dresses. Opt for something structured and flared instead of a girly swingy version. This Alexander McQueen dress is to die for but the price will also kill you. This Reiss version has the same cut and fabric, and I love the cutout details at the bottom of the dress. Last on my list is a ladylike bag. Nothing beats ladylike sophistication more than Victoria Beckham and her latest handbag collection are classic and timeless. Copy her handbag style with this H&M version that has almost the shape and metallic detailing.
I hope that this list of fall must have’s will inspire you on your next shopping trip.
