Power Pack Your Smart Phone

As an entrepreneur on the move, I rely heavily on my phone. Making sure I hit all my targets for the day I keep track of my health, schedule, projects, social media and sleep with my one device.

  1. Social Media

PC: The Social Clinic

I have recently done a Instagram & Facebook detox. Trust me when I say this that it’s been the most rewarding activity in a long time. I realized how much it annoyed me (I can be short tempered) to constantly get useless notifications. I wanted to be on top of everything, which made me feel like I was constantly behind on everything. Moving away from social media has helped me refocus.

Now, I religiously log out of my social media accounts for majority of the day. When I am bored or simply have some time on my hands, I log in and check up on the world. I’m doing this slowly so to not get caught up in the day-to-day whirlwind of what everyone is up to! And it’s peaceful again..

  1. Health

I started using a couple of apps on my phone to keep my (not so great) routine in check. These apps are free and connect to my “health” app on the iPhone easily.

“Daily Yoga” – If you read my previous post on then you know why I love doing yoga. I use this app to keep myself in check and make sure I do my morning 10-15mins routine. I get lost by not knowing what routine to follow so this app gives me something to follow without putting in any effort. “Hi, I’m Saima and I’m lazy”

“Life Cycle” – this app works in the background and takes into how much time I spend:

– At home (basically with family),
– Driving around the country (apparently I spend an abnormal amount of time driving),
– Places I visit (keeping check into how much I’m socializing),
– Saloon visits (time spend for self care) and so on..

Comparing each week helped me channel my energy in the right direction. Some weeks I was working long and sleeping less which I knew had to change so I moved things around on my schedule to accommodate more self care to compensate. Before using this app, I would solely rely on how crap I felt today to decide what I wanted to do.

“Sleep Cycle” – I wake up super grumpy to an alarm and this has been normal since I was little. If only I had this app before, I would have avoided a lot of awkward encounters first thing in the morning. This app monitors my sleep quality throughout the night, which gives me a rough idea of how I feel versus how I slept. Now, the best feature of the app is that it keeps a 30mins window in which it monitors your sleep and sets off the alarm to wake you at your lightest! Instead of the alarm going off at 6am sharp when I may be in my deepest sleep, now I can be woken up between 5.45-6.15am and caught at my lightest. This has done wonders as I no longer get headaches nor scare the devil.

  1. Organizer

I use two apps for this; one to monitor the appointments and another to schedule them.

“Calendar” – Syncing my major email accounts on my phone helps me manage multiple
calendars on one with this inbuilt iPhone app. Based on what the activity or appointment is related to, I sync it with the respective email account. For example, for work appointments it’s green and linked to my Crunch account. For personal appointments it’s pink and linked to my personal account. For the blog related events or meetings it’s blue.

“Fancy Hands” – Introduced by a fellow businesswoman and best friend, I chose Fancy Hands to work as a virtual assistant. I’ve been able to schedule appointments, get flowers delivered to my mum for Mother’s Day and got confidential documents signed, sealed and delivered from US to Qatar.

Check out their site if you're hunting: https://www.fancyhands.com

These are just the few things that I use to keep my sanity and to keep on top of my work, personal life and beyond. Comment below to share with me your favourite apps or services in Qatar that help you stay on track!

Signing off,

*This is not a sponsored post. I simply love these apps and wanted to share it with all of you!
