Early October Bio-oil approached us to do a review for their skincare oil that I’ve heard a lot about yet never tried it out for myself but now that I have I’m going to share my experience with you all!!
Like the name suggests it is an oil based formula that has a pleasant aroma and is not very greasy or thick like other oils. It is mainly used to treat:
- Stretch marks
- Uneven skin tone
- Ageing skin
- Dehydrated skin
I’ve been using bio-oil for the past 5 weeks, on my stretch marks, uneven skin tone and as a base for my makeup. I apply a generous amount of it right after a shower directly onto my body (The bottle recommends applying it twice daily) and this is how it went for me.
Scars and Stretch marks
As for stretch marks I’ve seen a slight yet visible change after using bio-oil, it worked better on minor scars. The packaging states it should take about 3 months for the product to show best results. So, I am going to continue using the oil for my scars.
Uneven skin tone
The oil is absorbed by the skin real quick but like I said it’s been only a month and a week since I’ve used it once daily (I wish I used it like the bottle recommended) so the difference in skin tone for me is not very drastic.
So I got the idea of using bio-oil as a makeup base from a Youtube makeup tutorial and since I have super dry skin I decided to test it out on my face. I used it 3 times as a base (only a few drops) before I put my makeup on and what I noticed was my skin got softer but I stopped using it because I have dry yet acne prone skin and I broke out soon after the 3rd use. However it did make the application of make up so much better.
ATTENTION : For those with sensitive or acne prone skin I do not recommend using this on your face.
My final verdict: It is a great product for those who have patience and are willing to use it religiously for 3-5 months to completely get rid of Stretch marks and uneven skin tone. In the short period of time that I’ve used the product the result is worth giving it a shot.It has now become a part of my skincare routine and I’d recommend it to all them women who face trouble with their scars and stretch marks.
